The Phil presents ‘Music from Movies and Musicals 4 (MMM4)’
Songs from movies and musicals always hold a special place in the hearts of audiences everywhere. Come join Malaysia’s oldest community choir, the Choir of The Philharmonic Society of Selangor, led by Cheryl Teh, as they perform the 4th edition of MMM with over 100 singers from all walks of life, backed by a live band lead by Nish Tham.
The first MMM was performed in 1996, with MMM2 in 2003 and MMM3 took to stage in 2010. Now with a whole new crop of selections waiting to be showcased, enjoy songs and revues from The Sound of Music, Grease, The Lion King, Les Misérables, Prince of Egypt, Shrek, Jersey Boys and more. It will be a fun concert for the whole family.
As a community based society, apart from promoting the love of music in the community, one of The Phil’s other main objectives is to contribute to charitable organisations within the community. Over the past half century, proceeds from productions have been donated to many charitable organisations around Malaysia. This year proceeds from the production will be channeled to Society for the Severely Mentally Handicapped, Selangor and Federal Territory (SSMH), Persatuan SLE Malaysia (PSLEM) and the Light a Home Project.

About The Phil:
Probably the oldest music society in Malaysia, The Philharmonic Society of Selangor was founded in 1958. The choir is the most active arm of the society and to date has staged more than 50 productions ranging from classical to contemporary. A stand-out feature about this choir is that it is a non-auditioned community choir, made up entirely of volunteers who come from all walks of life, aspiring towards building a community in harmony.
