Persatuan SLE Malaysia’s newly opened office in Penang (PSLEM Penang) at Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang in Jalan Utama is off to a good start thanks to the generosity of warm-hearted Penangites.
Faced with an empty office space that needed cleaning, re-painting, re-flooring, blinds for its windows, and locks for its doors, PSLEM Project Coordinator Nancy Ong turned to her friends and relatives in Penang for help.

Well, there must be something about Nancy’s jolly face and hearty laugh because soon her family members promised her an air-conditioner, an executive table, a TV rack, a cupboard, a bookshelf, a stand fan, and a sofa set, and her friends the Chew family volunteered a computer, a deskjet printer, an executive chair, and a 14″ TV. And the last we heard, a DVD player was donated by someone Nancy just met, a Mr. Arnson.
Nancy with some of the donated items
Family members and friends who could not donate in kind came out with cash: Bizline Consultant Services Sdn Bhd donated a year’s office rental, Ms Jessie Ong donated RM200 for the office blinds, Ms Lilian Chew RM60 for the PVC flooring, Ms Janie RM50 for painting the office and installing the PVC flooring, and Ms Lim Guat Beng RM350 to dismantle, service, install, and replace the fan motor for the donated air-conditioner.
Dear donors, thank you all for your kind contributions!
Meanwhile, please do call Nancy at PSLEM Penang, Tel: (04) 228-7672 to find out how you can make a difference in the lives of people suffering from the autoimmune disorder, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).
