PSLEM was selected as one of the beneficiaries of The Edge-Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Rat Race 2009 organised by The Edge and Bursa Malaysia and supported by Yayasan Bursa Malaysia. Modelled after the Carey Wall Street Rat Race in New York, the Kuala Lumpur Rat Race provides the platform for corporations to fulfil their corporate social responsibilities in a fun way.<\/p>\n

Our volunteers who helped out at PSLEM\u2019s information booth at the event on 11 August, witnessed brightly dressed teams from 67 local and foreign companies arriving at Bursa Malaysia\u2019s Exchange Square amidst the chorus and colour of cheerleading squads. CEOs were seen warming up in their full work attire.<\/p>\n

A record 159 teams participated in the race and contributed a record total of RM1.75 million, which was shared among the 20 selected charities. PSLEM received RM87,500 towards its work of initiating and nurturing the start-up of SLE support groups throughout Malaysia. With this, it is hope that the social support systems for SLE patients and their family members will be strengthened.<\/p>\n

Editor-in-chief of The Edge Ho Kay Tat, who is also the advisor of the KL Rat Race said, \u201cMany companies have supported this event continuously every year, which certainly shows their commitment and loyal following of this race to benefit charity.\u201d<\/p>\n

CEO of Bursa Malaysia, Dato\u2019 Yusli Mohamed Yusoff, said, \u201cFor the past decade, Corporate Malaysia has been racing for very noble reasons and has demonstrated their commitment to this corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.\u201d Since the race\u2019s debut in 2000, more than RM9.4 million has been given out to 110 charitable organisations.<\/p>\n
